We follow the syllabus laid down by the BHPA. (The National Association)
It takes about four or five days to gain your 'Elementary Pilot' qualification, this is the first level at which you can, if you wish, purchase a glider. Then around about eight to twelve days to gain 'Club Pilot' qualification. This then allows you to fly without an instructor present.
Most people are airborne at the end of the first day, but this does depend a little on the conditions.

We train every day (weather permitting), so space isn't too much of a problem. You do need to book and pay in advance though, to reserve your space.
Whatever, its great fun, be prepared to laugh a lot.!!!!

COSTS

1 Day Taster Paragliding  £120.00
Elementary Pilot Paragliding £480.00
Club Pilot Paragliding (post EP) £480.00
Combined EP/CP Paragliding Full Qualification Course from complete beginner  £920.00

A question we are often asked is  "If I decide to carry on with the sport, how much is a new glider?"   Although I would say that this question is best answered a little later in your flying career, we offer a package of: equipment and Club Pilot training for £2650 inclusive.

Club Pilot Paragliding training is virtually "open ended". You will get a minimum of 10 training days after your EP but if it takes you longer to complete the tasks to get up to our required high standards we will give you up to another 8 days training free of charge.

This is the equivalent of another Club Pilot Paragliding course completely free. Para-Excellence is one of the only paragliding centres in the UK that offers this service. All we ask in return is that you complete your training within 1 year. You can still keep training after the 1-year limit but you may be expected to purchase extra days. This is as close to a guaranteed Club Pilot licence as you are going to get in the sport.
Note: We still reserve the right not to qualify any student until that student reaches the appropriate standard and to call a halt to training in the interest of that student if we feel fit to do so.

BHPA membership.
We can no longer include membership for the Elementary and Club Pilot paragliding courses. If you are booked onto these courses you will need to pay for either 3month or annual membership on your start day. We leave this up to you to decide which membership is more use to you. Please remember to bring a method of payment, we cannot give credit and you cannot train without it. We cover insurance and membership costs for all other courses.
Membership prices as of Jan 2008 are:
3month £40.00 + £15.00 joining fee - total £55.00
Annual £77.00 + £15.00 joining fee - total £92.00
**NB** From April 1st 2008 Annual membership increases to £84

All course prices include training and equipment use.

Booking Conditions - Important - Please read
To ensure the smooth operation of the centre and it being the only way to confirm your place, all course fees must be fully paid in advance. Please choose which course you require then ring us on 01492 584885 to book your dates (your dates do not need to be consecutive, we can tailor the course to suit you). Once you've called us we can reserve your dates for seven days while we wait for your completed booking form and payment to arrive. Once we receive your details we will open a student file in your name ready for the start of your training.

Prices include training, equipment use and compulsory BHPA membership with One-day paragliding courses. If booked on an EP or CP course, you must bring payment for BHPA insurance and membership on your start day.

Cancellation:
You have a 7-day, full refund cancellation period after purchasing any of our courses. Due to the nature of our business, once the 7-day cancellation period has expired, there can be no refunds for any reason whatsoever. If you book within 7-days of your start date, there is no cancellation period. If you are booked on a course during any part of your training and you decide not to attend, you must give us at least 48hours notice or risk forfeiting that day. Gift vouchers are not refundable but are valid for a whole year from the date of issue..
Sorry, but we must be strict on these points to ensure the survival of our business.
Course cancellations due to bad weather: As all our training and experience days are weather dependent, Para-Excellence and its instructors cannot be held responsible whatsoever for the fickle nature of the British climate. If you are unfortunate with the weather during your booked dates, we will time credit you the lost day or days for up to 1 year to be taken at your convenience - just keep rebooking the next available date until you get a good weather slot. As with all weather dependant sports, while under training patience can be required at times but the rewards are vast in comparison. If you are not a patient person, we would politely suggest weather dependant sports are probably not for you.
Note: No money refunds due to inclement weather are possible on any day or days booked with Para-Excellence.
Checklist!
Remember to bring on the day - payment for insurance for EP and CP courses, boots with ankle support (you cannot fly in shoes or trainers) - food and plenty of drink - warm clothing - gloves for hand protection - sunglasses - suncream!
